Introduction
Macoui is a maritime navigation app that helps you plan your crossings. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data We Collect
Macoui collects minimal data, only what is necessary for the app to function.
Location Data
With your explicit permission, the app accesses your geographic location to:
- Display your position on the maritime chart
- Calculate routes from your current position
- Center the map on your sailing area
Anonymous Analytics Data
We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-respecting solution, to collect anonymous usage statistics:
- No third-party cookies are used
- No personal data is collected
- Data is aggregated and anonymized
Locally Stored Data
The app stores data directly on your device (IndexedDB) to enable offline functionality: weather data, map tiles, saved routes. This data never leaves your device.
How We Use Your Data
- Display your position on the maritime chart
- Calculate optimal weather routes
- Improve the app through anonymous usage statistics
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal data to third parties. Location data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Data Retention
Locally stored data (weather, maps, routes) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Anonymous analytics data is retained for 12 months.

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: obtain a copy of your data
- Right to rectification: correct your data
- Right to erasure: delete your data
